Careers at Founders Comms

Founders Comms works with the most ambitious founders, startups, scaleups and venture investors to help them tell their story clearly, build trust and navigate a fast moving external environment. We combine senior level strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, helping high growth companies communicate with conviction and engage effectively with the audiences that matter.

Our aim is to give clients earlier access to senior expertise across communications, external affairs and strategy, helping them anticipate what is coming next, engage effectively and scale with confidence.

In today’s landscape, strong communication and thoughtful external engagement shape reputation, influence key conversations and create real momentum for businesses looking to grow. We bring deep experience in early stage and high growth companies, and work closely with founders to respond with clarity and confidence.

We are building a team of experienced operators and advisors who enjoy both the thinking and the doing, and who want to help build a new kind of communications partner for high growth companies.

Advisor/Senior Advisor (Fintech)

The Role
We're looking for an experienced communications professional to join our growing team as a Advisor or Senior Advisor, leading work across a portfolio of ambitious fintech clients.

This is a senior role for someone who understands the unique communications challenges and opportunities that come with operating at the frontier of financial technology — from navigating complex regulatory environments and product narratives to building credibility with specialist media, investors and the wider financial services ecosystem.

Working closely with the co-founders and wider team, you will:
  • Develop and deliver strategic communications and media engagement programmes that support clients' commercial objectives, growth plans and key inflection points — from funding rounds and licensing milestones to product launches and regulatory moments.
  • Advise founders and leadership teams on reputation, media positioning, stakeholder engagement and messaging — helping translate technical credibility into compelling public narratives.
  • Lead media strategy and execution across accounts, identifying story opportunities, shaping narratives, pitching proactively and managing press relationships across financial services, technology and business media.
  • Act as a trusted day-to-day contact for journalists — from national finance correspondents and trade press to specialist payments, banking and wealthtech outlets — building credibility and long-term relationships on behalf of clients.
  • Translate complex financial, regulatory or technical content into clear, newsworthy stories that resonate with different audiences: consumers, financial institutions, investors, policymakers and the wider public.
  • Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including investors, FCA and other regulatory bodies, banking and payments partners, and industry associations where relevant.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, working with the leadership team to convert relationships, networks and inbound interest into long-term client engagements.
  • Lead day-to-day client delivery across multiple workstreams, bringing clarity, momentum and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Proactively spot opportunities to add value — shaping ideas and recommendations rather than waiting for a brief.
  • Contribute to the growth of the agency, supporting business development and helping evolve our services as we deepen our presence in the fintech space.
What you'll bring:
  • Experience in strategic or corporate communications, with a clear track record in media relations within fintech, financial services, payments or adjacent sectors.
  • A genuine understanding of the fintech landscape — including how companies move from early-stage product development through to regulatory authorisation, commercialisation and scale.
  • Sound commercial judgement, with the ability to align communications activity to wider business objectives in a sector where trust, timing and accuracy are paramount.
  • A proven record of delivery across media moments including funding announcements, product launches, partnership news, licensing milestones or issues and crisis work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to shape sharp, audience-appropriate messages, press materials and narratives — including for non-specialist audiences.
  • Strong connections within the fintech, banking, payments or insurtech ecosystem, and a solid understanding of how PR and media can support growth, investor confidence and regulatory credibility.
  • Comfort operating in environments where financial regulation and technical detail matter — you don't need to be a compliance expert, but you do need the intellectual curiosity and rigour to get it right.
  • Be highly organised and detail-oriented, able to manage competing priorities without losing quality.
  • Show a proactive, self-starting mindset and enjoy taking responsibility.
  • Be motivated by the opportunity to help shape a young, growing advisory firm.

We're always keen to connect with fantastic people in the ecosystem, so drop us an email and CV at hello@founderscomms.co if you're interested in the work we're doing.

Why work with us?

We offer the best of both worlds: a young, ambitious agency that’s growing quickly, coupled with the backing of the Founders Forum Group, one of the world’s most connected tech ecosystems.

We love working with founders. We get genuinely excited about understanding their vision and helping them communicate it in a clear, persuasive and powerful way. We’re committed to producing high quality, commercially aligned work for some of the most interesting and high potential startups and scaleups in the UK and beyond.

We believe people do their best work when they feel supported, trusted and able to balance the different parts of their lives. We’re building a culture that reflects that - grounded, flexible and human - and you’ll help shape it from the start.

Our office is based within the Founders Forum Group space at the Strand, working side by side with teams like Founders HR, Founders Keepers, Founders Law and Founders Makers. We like being together in the office around three days a week, and we value flexibility. Work life balance is something we actively role model as co founders.
